How long will it take to clear my skin?
It depends on the type of skin concerns you have and how compliant you are with the treatments, products and lifestyle changes. It generally takes 4-8 treatments (3-4 months with bi-weekly appointments) but could be up to 6 months. Clients usually see changes after the 3rd treatment.

POST FACIAL ENZYME/CHEMICAL PEEL CARE

  • Beginning a few hours after the peel, gently wash your face with mild facial cleanser and water 1-2 times per day. Do not scrub with a washcloth or abrasive pad, as the skin is very delicate and prone to irritation.

  • Moist skin heals better than dry skin. Keep the treatment area moisturized at all times. A moisturizing cream should be applied after each cleansing. Reapply the moisturizer as needed throughout the day. Should the skin become dry, it may feel tight and painful. Applying an adequate amount of moisturizer will alleviate any discomfort.

  • Some clients can experience peeling with deeper treatments within 2-3 days. This process typically continues for 3-7 days. DO NOT pick or pull off any loose skin. Picking can result in infections and lead to scarring.

  • Make-up can be resumed as soon as the skin is done peeling (about 7-10 days). Initially the skin may have a light pink color (similar to a mild sunburn) but will fade to your natural skin tone over several weeks.

  • Use sunscreens with an SPF of at least 30 daily. Your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage after your chemical peel and it is recommended that you use adequate protection (i.e.sunscreen, hats, clothing) anytime that you are outside. It is important to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater and avoid prolonged, direct sunlight for at least 14 days. Clients with hypersensitivity to the sun should take extra precautions to guard against exposure immediately following the procedure as they may be more sensitive following the peel.

  • Do NOT use Retinols or bleaching creams.

WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED AFTER TREATMENT?

  • Depending upon the type of solution used, a reaction similar to a sunburn may occur following a chemical peel. Superficial and medium-depth peeling usually involves redness, followed by scaling that ends within 3-7 days. Areas of brown discoloration may gradually worsen over the week following the peel. This is normal and will resolve once the superficial dead skin sloughs off. Blistering is very rare.

  • Lack of peeling is NOT an indication that the peel was unsuccessful. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the peel, such as stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminish fine lines and pigmentation.
